Have your say on the draft Sussex Local Nature Recovery Strategies

Over the past two years, East Sussex and West Sussex County Councils (supported by the Sussex Nature Partnership, a Working Group of key environmental and land management organisations, a Supporting Authority group, and by over 2000 local people) have been developing a Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for their respective areas.

Now the two Sussex strategies have been drafted, a public consultation invites everyone living and working in West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton & Hove to let us know if we’ve got them right.

Have your say by clicking a link below to take you to your relevant consultation hub (both consulations have been set up on West Sussex County Council's YourVoice platform):

How to have your say - register for a webinar!

We'll be walking you through what's in the strategies, how they help us to help nature, and how and where you can tell us what you think.  Visit our events page for details.

How to review your LNRS

  • From Mid October, find your Local Nature Recovery Strategy on the YourVoice platform – either the West Sussex LNRS or the East Sussex and Brighton & Hove LNRS
  • Have a look at the three documents that together make up the written LNRS, called ‘The Statement of Biodiversity Priorities Parts 1, 2 and 3’. (A fourth document has further technical detail).
  • Explore the interactive Local Habitat Map.
  • Use the online survey to give your feedback (NB - you don’t have to answer all the questions – only those that feel relevant to you). You can also comment by adding pins directly on the interactive map.

Those without digital access

Anyone without access to the internet can visit a library in Sussex to complete the consultation. For anyone needing further support completing an online form, help can be arranged from a digital volunteer.

A printed copy of the LNRS documents will also be available to look at from 3 November 2025 at the following libraries:

  • West Sussex: Chichester, Horsham and Worthing libraries
  • Brighton & Hove: Hove Library and Jubilee Library
  • East Sussex: Lewes, Eastbourne and Hastings libraries.
