Supporting Authorities approve draft Sussex LNRS for public consultation

In August, the draft East Sussex and Brighton & Hove LNRS and draft West Sussex LNRS were sent to their Supporting Authorities for a statutory 28-day review – a key milestone in the development of the strategies.  Today marks the end of the review period and we're pleased to share that all authorities (see list below), provided their approval. This means both strategies can now progress to public consultation.

Don Baker, LNRS lead for West Sussex and part of the Sussex Nature Recovery team said:

"We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our Supporting Authorities for their engagement and endorsement, and to Natural England for their ongoing guidance and collaboration throughout the development process.

This marks a significant step forward in shaping a shared vision for nature recovery across Sussex. The LNRS will help guide targeted action to protect and enhance biodiversity, support climate resilience, and improve access to nature for communities.

Public consultation is expected to launch in mid-October. We encourage everyone, residents, landowners, community groups, and stakeholders, to take part and help shape the future of nature in Sussex.”

More details about the public consultation and how to shape your Local Nature Recovery Strategy will be announced soon, so check back regularly.
